Is it possible to bring back dinosaurs? If so, how?
No, it is not possible to bring back dinosaurs. The group became extinct 66 million years ago. We have their descendants, birds, with us now, so we can get an inkling of how some small carnivorous dinosaurs might have looked and behaved. Dinosaurs evolved at a time in Earth history which was singularly appropriate for that type of life form, the present day Earth is very different from the Earth as it was between 225 and 66 million years ago. The interest in re-creating dinosaurs following the success of 'Jurassic Park' is very understandable. The paleaontology portrayed in the book and film is reasonably accurate, as is the biotechnology. The link through blood-sucking insects trapped in amber is ingenious - but unrealistic! The molecules of DNA which carry the blueprint of all life forms are immensely long and complicated. The chances of being able to find even a few broken fragments of the DNA of animals that died and became fossilised more than 66 million years ago is very remote.
